Scope of activities
The Health Visitor Service is nearly unique worldwide. Its history dates back to 1915, with the establishment of the Stefánia Alliance. Although it has undergone many changes over the decades, the primary goal of health visitors has remained constant. Supporting families expecting or raising children to ensure the physical and mental well-being of children as they grow into adulthood.
Health visitor activities are regulated by law. Through personal consultations and home visits, a trust-based relationship develops between families and health visitors.
Core Responsibilities Include:
- Women's health protection and prenatal care.
- Caring for infants and young children from birth until school age, as well as school-aged children.
- Organising screenings and vaccinations, preventing illnesses, and participating in public health tasks and health promotion.
School nurses provide services in schools. District health visitors operate based on territorial assignments.
