Laboratory Diagnostics – referral required

We kindly ask for your patience in the event of longer waiting times.

 laboratory services are available to:

• residents with a permanent or registered temporary address in District 6;
• patients referred by general practitioners or TESZ specialists within District 6.

To access laboratory services, you will need a valid referral, but no appointment is required. 

For the following tests, a separate, paper-based referral is necessary:

1. Péterfy Sándor Utcai Hospital: Hormones, tumour markers, vitamin B12, folic acid, transferrin, albumin, rheumatoid factor, lipase, specialised coagulation tests, troponin.
2. Nemzeti Népegészségügyi Központ (National Public Health Centre): Mandatory prenatal screening tests – HBsAg and Treponema pallidum, viral serology.
3. Uzsoki Utcai Hospital: Microbiological tests – sample cultures.
4. Dél-pesti Területi Vérellátó (South Pest Regional Blood Supply Centre): Blood group testing. 

Please note: For blood tests, attend on an empty stomach. Drink approximately 500 ml (half litre) of water in the hours leading up to the test.

The entitlement to referral of the maternity care booklet is regulated by the Government Decree 217/1997 (XII. 1.) on the implementation of Act LXXXIII of 1997 on the implementation of the compulsory health insurance benefits.

We can accept a maternity care book as a referral if it contains the name, stamp and signature of the general practitioner providing care, the BNO code certifying the pregnancy, the name, designation and code identifying the referring doctor and their place of work, the name of the insured person, the social security number, the logbook number identifying the care provided by the referring doctor, a brief medical history of the patient and the date of issue of the referral. 

We are unable to take the small book as a referral and it is not available in EESZT, therefore:

• Either a copy of the contents of the referral form is made,
• or a separate, paper referral for the tests is made by the attending GP. 

For this reason, separate referrals for blood group, HbsAg and Treponema pallidum tests are required at the TESZ laboratory.

Blood group tests can be done on Mondays and Thursdays, the other mandatory laboratory tests can be done on working days during office hours.
